DJ T-ROCK: Press

Dj T-Rock & Squashy Nice : Rock & Squash Techniques

Simple songs and Wicked Beats

by Scratch Dat

4 out of 5 stars!!!

Seriously, I heard Hip Hop Body Rock in New Zealand on Holiday. It was pretty good, cause they are playing the video like crazy. But the cd is tight. What else have these guys done?

Excellent assortment of smooth, groovy, hiphop rhythms. Nothing short of stellar

Where do I begin? DJ T-Rock and Squash have done nothing here to disappoint with "Rock and Squash Techniques". They've delivered the goods in mint condition. This album contains a very solid lineup of songs that are all...well...damn good. The beats, samples, & DJ skills displayed are superb! These guys bring me the same satisfaction that DJ Shadow, Cut Chemist and Mix Master Mike do...or any great hiphop artist for that matter. Yes they're that good. I've had the pleasure of seeing Dj T-Rock live here in S.F. and his talent stands out like a sore thumb. I look forward to his next visit. You need to do a show at "Milk", but I'm down with "Madrones" too. If you're looking for music to get your party / gathering or moment of solitudegoing then this is the ideal album. Don't matter whether you're chillin', grooving or dancing, it'll work. Props to my cousin Raven for introducing me to him. And for the rest of you readers...stop reading this review and go expand your hiphop collection with "Rock and Squash Techniques"! Don't think about it, be about it. Peace

Dj T-Rock and Squashy Nice : Outloud

One of the best
DJ T Rock and Squashy Nice are an awesome team. This album mixes it all up and is a high energy listen. Their ability to fuse so many different styles of music is brillant. I highly recommend this CD to those that are looking for something new with a familiar beat to it.

Dj T-Rock : Hip Hop Sundae

The best gosh-darn CD I've ever frickin' heard!
author: Kim
Hip Hop Sundae is the best CD I've ever heard in my entire life! (Well, it's a near toss up with Who's Your Daddy.) Dj T-rock is so talented and I think I need to marry him and have his babies. This music makes me want to know the Dj behind the magic...and it's a plus that he's frickin' hot too!
More "Sundae" please!

This one is another mix CD in the vein of "Brainfreeze" and "Uneasy Listening". And having never heard of T-Rock I was pleasantly surprised with the quality and ingenuity that fills this CD (I later found out he is a well-known West Coast tablist who has worked with quite a few people and established a good solid reputation for rocking dancefloors worldwide). No Funk Flex bullshit, just straight up party fun, done the right way. It covers the classics, from Tone Loc to Run DMC and some other lesser-known gems. Add a hefty dose of rock, funk and 70's soul and you have another perfect bbq mix for those lazy Sunday afternoons. My favorite bits have to be a mashup of "Eye of the Tiger" and "Wild Thing". Also priceless is a mashup of "Shimmy Ya" with Stevie Wonder instrumentals and the original to Dizzie Rascals "Fix up, look sharp", the beautiful "Big Beat" by Billy Squire. It is nicely rounded off by various turntablist skits and routines which fit in nicely with the rest of the mix. More sundae please!

Dj T-Rock : Sikinthehed (Sick-In-The-Head)

T-Rock takes music to the edge of panic.
author: Steve "Flash" Juan
Dj T-Rock is back with his second full-length album and DVD entitled "SIKINTHEHED" and like Terminator X before him, T-Rock takes music to the edge of panic with this musical opus! Throughout the album the song titles seem offered as challenges to the listeners- to accept, to believe, or just to groove out.T-Rock's album shows both a love for hip-hop history and a desire to introduce sound elements into mixes that are too often overlooked by other jockeys. By the time one reaches the end of this album/DVD, it's almost impossible to resist the urge to hit play and start the whole experience over again.

Most original album I have ever heard
author: john starks
Oh my god!! This album is my favorite album! On most albums, songs tend to sound identical as the track listing continues on it's 10-14 song path, but this CD is a structural masterpiece. Each song is diferent but maintains it's steadiness and reflects what seems to be the personality of this incredible Los Angeles based band. Part Hip Hop, part Rock, this band does it like no other! they sound like no one else but themselves! kudos to you Graffiti Death Threat for bringing originality back into music and causing me to hunger for more of your anti-cookie cutter,anti-radio pop, brainwashing, music.
